Everton Shirts Raise Almost £20,000 For Charity

Everton’s match-worn and match-prepared shirts from the men’s senior team’s last three fixtures before the World Cup break have raised almost £20,000 at auction.

The shirts, which all bore an embroidered poppy as a mark of respect to lost members of the armed forces and merchant navy, were signed by their respective players and auctioned in aid of the Royal British Legion.

The items, all listed on matchwornshirt.com, attracted bids from across the globe and the combined total pledged from all three auctions was £19,416.

Founded in 1921, the Royal British Legion is England’s largest armed forces charity, with 180,000 members.

It provides lifelong support to serving and ex-serving personnel and their families, which could be anything from recovery and rehabilitation to transitioning to civilian life.

In addition to the individual players’ shirts, there were also squad-signed and framed shirts up for grabs.

The fundraising figure will continue to grow with shirts signed by members of the women’s senior squad currently up for auction on matchwornshirt.com.

The latest auction will close at 2pm (GMT) on Tuesday 27 December. To browse the items or to make a bid, please click here.
