Sorensen: Everything Clicked In Spurs Win

Brian Sorensen was full of praise for his side following their impressive 3-0 Barclays Women's Super League victory away to Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night.

Snow, ice and plummeting temperatures have caused havoc up and down the country across this past week, yet Everton took full advantage of their clash going ahead at Brisbane Road on Wednesday night by producing one of their best performances of the campaign so far.

Goals from Katja Snoeijs, Jess Park and Gio sealed the victory and subsequently Everton now head into the Christmas break sixth in the WSL table after leapfrogging their hosts and Aston Villa.

On the victory, Sorensen told evertontv: "That was nice, all the circumstances around it, coming here without knowing if the game will be on.

"It wasn't the prettiest game, but we produced a really solid performance over the 90 minutes. Three wonderful goals, so it's good."

He added: “It puts us in a good position now, we have one game in hand for whenever that gets rescheduled.

“The January schedule looks good for us, playing teams around us, so if we can keep doing this, then it's all going in the right direction.”

Everton were meant to have been in action last Sunday, however, their scheduled league trip to Brighton was postponed due to a frozen pitch. There were fears that Wednesday’s contest could have fell victim to the weather too.

Yet despite this ongoing disruption, Sorensen stated his team never allowed the same to impact their focus ahead of the crunch clash with Spurs.

"The girls have been focused, they have been looking sharp in training, even the day before Brighton when we probably knew it was going to be off due to the frozen weather, they were focusing on this one," he explained.

"We came in Monday, had to change our schedule a little bit leading into this one but they were sharp which is nice."

There were plenty of positives that came from Wednesday’s commanding win, though perhaps one of the more prominent was Nico Sorensen making her first start since returning from injury last month.

The Denmark international marked the occasion by delivering a fabulous low cross for Snoeijs to tap home and notch her first league goal since joining the Blues.

“We have been talking about it for a long time with Kat, having the patience. She's in there, she is doing the job," Sorensen added.

"She had to come off with an injury but I thought she was phenomenal when she played."

Sorensen continued: "Her pressure, all the time she's there, she's in the box and in dangerous areas, plus Nico, we know what she can bring, so it's nice.

"Everything clicked, the subs when they come in, they did well too, so yeah, just a really nice day in the office."
