Snoeijs On First Goal And Desire To Get Better

Katja Snoeijs revealed she was pleased to get off the mark for Everton in Saturday’s 3-0 win over Sheffield United, but also admitted she thinks the team can perform even better.

The 26-year-old, who joined the Toffees from Bordeaux in the summer, opened the scoring for Brian Sorensen’s side after teammate Lucy Graham forced an error in the Blades’ back line which allowed Snoeijs to run through and calmly finish into the far corner.

Although that was Snoeijs' first goal for the Club, after the win, manager Sorensen was full of praise for the forward, labelling her proficient in training and “one of the best” finishers he’s ever worked with.

“I’m very happy with my first goal and the win tonight,” said the Netherlands international speaking to evertontv post-match.

“What Brian said, I have felt the same. In training, it’s not like I don’t score goals, but I think I was a bit unlucky in games and have been waiting for the right moment.

“I feel like Lucy give me the right chance today to finish and get my goal.

“I knew I was in the box, so it was just one touch then finish. In the box, I am at my best and chances like that I take.”

The victory saw Everton climb into top spot of Group A in the Continental League Cup with five points from their opening two matches.

While this has put the Blues in a good early position, Snoeijs believes further improvement is needed as tough tests against the likes of Manchester United lie ahead in the competition.

She added: “It does [put us in a good position], but I think in the end we still need to learn from how we played today because there’s a lot to improve even though we got the three points and three goals, I still think there’s much to improve and we need to do better to compete against United and to have a good chance to go through.

“But in the end, the win is the thing that counts, we needed the three points and we did it so that's the thing we are happy about”.
