It's Never Too Late To Join Everton's Veterans' Community

Everton in the Community's life-saving veterans' project has been encapsulated into a spoken word poem as part of this year's Remembrance activities.

The poem, which was premiered during Everton's Remembrance fixture against Leicester City last Saturday, emotionally captures the complex journey a veteran can face adapting back into civilian life, whilst reinforcing the programme's call to veterans across the region that it's never too late to seek support and join the programme.

Since launching in 2011, Everton Veterans' Hub has supported over 700 veterans and their families through a range of engagement tools, support mechanisms and evidenced-based behavioural change methods.

The poem, 'It's Never Too Late,' has been written and narrated by local spoken word poet Joseph Roberts and takes viewers on a journey of self-discovery and reflection - offering the programme's own veterans an opportunity to poignantly look back on their own memories serving in the armed forces, and how that previous comradeship and solidarity amongst like-minded veterans still remains thanks to the programme providing a safe space for participants to engage and support each other.
