Lampard Handed Defensive Boost

Frank Lampard has confirmed Yerry Mina and Ben Godfrey have returned to full training, while Nathan Patterson is available to start Saturday's visit of Leicester City (5.30pm GMT).

Godfrey, who suffered a fractured fibula in the season's opener against Chelsea, was back in full training this week but is unlikely to feature this weekend.

The game will also come too soon for Mina, who suffered a minor calf problem during his recovery from an injury in the first game of the campaign, with Lampard revealing the Colombian is "nearly ready" having resumed group sessions in the past few days.

The duo's return to training means Andros Townsend, who is in the latter stages of his recovery from an ACL injury sustained in March, is the only Men's First-Team player currently not working with the squad.

That comes as a welcome boost to boss Lampard, who has often battled with a busy treatment room since taking the managerial reins in late January.

There was more good news for the manager, who says Scotland international Patterson is available to be included in the starting line-up this weekend after making his comeback from an ankle complaint in the second half of the goalless draw at Fulham last time out.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin completed his first 90 minutes of the season at Craven Cottage and, after another full week on the training pitch, Lampard says the 25-year-old striker is becoming "more like himself, which is a big plus for us."
