Onana on Everton’s performance against Fulham and the resilience in the team…

It was a hard-fought draw. I think Fulham created many chances, but we defended as a team and I think that’s the positive point of tonight. In these kind of games, you can see how we’ve grown together. We’re playing as a team, as one, as a unit, and it’s nice to see that.

On how he is adapting to the high-octane nature of Premier League football…

These type of games are the reason I came here. I knew it was going to be intense. That’s what I was expecting. I’ve been settling in very well. Everyone here in the team makes sure every day I am settling as fast as possible, so thank you to the lads for that.

On how he can improve and Frank Lampard’s influence…

I want to be decisive for the team, scoring and assisting. That’s what I am working on now. I hope it will pay off very soon. I couldn’t have wished for a better manager [than Lampard], in terms of the fact he played my position. He is giving me very good advice on which points I can improve in my game. That’s definitely helpful.

On how his understanding is developing with fellow midfielders Alex Iwobi and Idrissa Gana Gueye…

I think we understand each other off the pitch and you can see it on the pitch. We have a very good relationship. We are also growing together, and we are getting used to playing with each other.

On learning from Gana…

I already knew the player he is and the man he is [before playing alongside him]. He is a very experienced player, he played in Paris and at the highest level you can play. He is a very good player and he gives me very good advice.

On the atmosphere in the dressing room at Everton…

It’s very good. We have a great group of lads. We are not letting each other down. I have been in several teams before with different atmospheres, but this is a special one. I am very happy.

On the importance of Everton’s final two Premier League games ahead of the World Cup…

Going to the World Cup with two wins would be a great feeling for our self-confidence. We are looking forward to the next game at Goodison against Leicester – they are a great team, too. We will work hard this week and prepare for that one.

On his hopes of earning a place in Belgium’s World Cup squad…

That is one of my biggest goals this season. I know it will only happen with performances here at Everton so it’s just about doing my best and giving 100 per cent every game to help the team win games.
