Everton Team News For Newcastle

Anthony Gordon returns from a one-match suspension while Mason Holgate is back in the matchday squad for Everton's trip to Newcastle United on Wednesday night (7.30pm BST).

Academy graduate Gordon missed Saturday's loss at Tottenham Hotspur after picking up a fifth yellow card of the campaign in the previous game against Manchester United but is available again for the clash at St James' Park.

Holgate has been out with a knee injury sustained at Brentford on 27 August and, having returned to training a fortnight ago, is in contention to play.

Ben Godfrey is back doing individual work outside at Finch Farm as he recovers from a fractured fibula, but fellow centre-back Yerry Mina will not feature against Newcastle after suffering a "small issue" with a calf complaint in training last week.

In his pre-match press conference on Tuesday morning, Everton manager Frank Lampard also reiterated the need "to be careful" with Dominic Calvert-Lewin's progression back into the team following the striker's recovery from a knee injury.

The England international has come off the bench in the Blues' past two games against Manchester United and Spurs.

Lampard said: "Yerry had a small issue in his rehab last week so he won't be involved. Mason is in the squad and Ben Godfrey is also on the training pitch. It's early stages but it's great to see.

"We've got to be careful with Dominic coming back, making sure we gradually bring him in but we want to do it as quickly as possible. It's a fine balance. When we have two games coming up in three days, hopefully we can get more minutes out of him."
