First Pro Contract For Everton Under-18s Midfielder

Everton Under-18s midfielder Callum Bates has signed a first professional contract with the Club, penning a three-year deal until the end of June 2025.

Bates, who celebrated his 17th birthday last week, has been with the Blues’ Academy since the age of 11.

He is currently enjoying his first season with Everton’s Under-18s and has featured in all four league matches for Leighton Baines’ team this term.

Speaking to, the Bury-born youngster paid tribute to the Everton coaches and backroom staff for supporting his development.

“It feels great to sign this pro contract and I’m excited for the future,” Bates said.

“I’ve been here for a long time and the Club have put their faith in me, which I’m very grateful for. I feel like my progress has been very good since I joined Everton. 

“It’s been a big step up to the Under-18s this season but I’m enjoying it. 

“It’s great to work with Leighton Baines. He demands a lot from his players and he wants the best for us. 

“This season, I just want to get regular football with the Under-18s, and then hopefully I can get a chance with the Under-21s in the future.”
