Gordon Shines Again For Young Lions

Anthony Gordon once again shone for England Under-21s as the Young Lions defeated Germany 3-1 in a friendly at Bramall Lane on Tuesday evening.

After falling behind in the first half, Gordon ensured the hosts' response was immediate, squaring for Arsenal's Folarin Balogun to fire home an equaliser.

Moments earlier, Everton teammate James Garner had grazed the crossbar with a header from a corner.

Gordon was at the heart of the action again as England hit the front shortly after half-time, driving down the left flank before finding Conor Gallagher, who made no mistake in finding the back of the net.

Manchester City's Cole Palmer sealed the win, rounding off a sweeping a counter-attack in stoppage time to hand Lee Carsley's side a morale-boosting victory as they continue to prepare for next summer's U21 EURO Finals.

Elsewhere, Salomon Rondon was on the scoresheet for Venezuela as the South American side recorded a 4-0 away victory over the United Arab Emirates in a friendly.

In the Nations League, Vitalii Mykolenko played the full 90 minutes in Ukraine's goalless draw against Scotland in Krakow, while in the same group, Seamus Coleman was an unused substitute in the Republic of Ireland's 3-2 home win over Armenia.

And finally, Alex Iwobi played the full match as Nigeria were defeated 2-1 in a friendly against Algeria.
