Discussions are said to be "progressing well" over a new contract for Anthony Gordon, according to iNews

The Everton Academy graduate's current deal runs until 2025, but the Club reportedly feel a new contract is merited for the youngster, who has become a key member of Frank Lampard's side.

The tabloid's report claims the Blues' plans for the January window are well under way, with the Club's scouts said to be looking for creative players that will strengthen the squad.

An attacking midfielder is one of the positions believed manager Lampard wishes to strengthen.

Meanwhile, Vitalii Mykolenko has revealed he hopes to be able to play a part in Ukraine's matches against Armenia on Saturday and Scotland on Tuesday.

Speaking to Ukrainian FA's media team ahead of his nation's match against the Scots earlier this week, the Everton left-back explained why he would miss the encounter and the severity of the knock.

"Probably, I won’t be able to help the guys [against Scotland], because even now I’m not taking part in training and I’m not preparing for the match.

"I felt discomfort during the last match of the English championship, and today the doctors conducted an examination and said that everything is more or less fine, but we have to wait a little.

"If the coaches take me, I will prepare for the next meetings."

Finally, in transfer news, La Gazzetta Dello Sport reports Everton scouts have been sent to watch Udinese forward Beto.

The 24-year-old has began the season well with four goals in his first six matches.

However, the Blues could face competition for the Portuguese forward with Fiorentina and Napoli keen on signing the striker.
