Matchday Guide: Everton To Pay Tribute To The Queen

QUEEN ELIZABETH II TRIBUTE

Everton will join clubs across the Premier League to pay tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at this Sunday’s home fixture with West Ham United.

As Premier League fixtures resume during the national period of mourning, all clubs will honour the life of the nation’s longest serving monarch ahead of kick-off.

At Goodison Park, both teams will be led out of the tunnel by their respective managers and will gather around the centre circle to join Goodison Park in a period of silence, which will be followed by the playing of the national anthem. Everton and West Ham United will be joined for the moments of silent and musical reflection by veteran armed forces personnel who have represented Queen and country from Everton in the Community’s Knowsley Veterans Hub.

Players from both sides will wear black armbands as a mark of respect while the flags at Goodison Park have been lowered to half-mast and will remain at half-mast until after Her Majesty’s funeral on Monday.

An in-game tribute will also be paid at all matches this weekend. An image of Queen Elizabeth II will appear on the big screen for one minute in-game when the match clock strikes 70 minutes, to mark the length of Her Majesty’s reign and to provide supporters with the opportunity to show their respects with applause.

Online the Club crests on all social media platforms will remain black and white representing the colours of the mourning period.

Everton would like to thank all supporters in advance of Sunday’s fixture for arriving early to avoid any impact on the period of silence and for respectfully joining the Club’s tribute to the Queen.

FANZONE

The Fanzone will again be open at the Park End of Goodison Park from midday.

PITCH ENCROACHMENT / PYROTECHNICS

Everton Football Club wishes to remind supporters that entering the field of play is a criminal offence.

The Club is committed to the Premier League, FA and EFL’s collective stance in tackling anti-social and criminal behaviour at football matches and will take a zero-tolerance approach to pitch encroachment during the 2022/23 campaign.

The Club is legally compelled to work with the authorities to identify any individuals who take part in such activity.

This also applies to the use of any pyrotechnics (smoke grenades and or flares) and the throwing of objects of any description on to the pitch. These acts are dangerous, illegal and have severe consequences.

Under strict stadium guidelines, all pyrotechnics are prohibited and supporters are advised that spot checks will take place at turnstiles and any such items will be confiscated.

Fans also run the risk of arrest and a subsequent stadium ban for possession of a pyrotechnic inside a football stadium.
