Coady Named In England Squad

Everton centre-back Conor Coady has been selected in the England squad for the Three Lions’ upcoming UEFA Nations League clashes with Italy and Germany.

Coady joined the Blues on a season-long loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers in August and has started all five of the Toffees’ Premier League matches since his arrival, impressing in the heart of Frank Lampard's defence.

The 29-year-old will be hoping to add to his 10 senior England caps as Gareth Southgate’s team contest their final games before the World Cup finals in November.

England’s heavyweight Nations League double-header kicks off against Italy at San Siro on Friday 23 September (7.45pm BST).

Germany will then visit Wembley Stadium on Monday 26 September (7.45pm BST).

England Under-21s will also be in action against Italy and Germany over the international break – and Everton duo Anthony Gordon and James Garner have been named in Lee Carsley's squad for the friendly fixtures.

The young Lions will travel to Italy for a game on Thursday 22 September, before hosting Germany at Sheffield United's Bramall Lane stadium on Tuesday 27 September (7.45pm BST).

Everton defender Reece Welch, meanwhile, has been called up to the England Under-20 squad for their matches against Chile, Morocco and Australia.

All of the matches will take place at Pinatar Arena in Murcia, Spain. England will take on Chile on Wednesday 21 September (7pm BST), before a clash with Morocco three days later (5pm BST). They will round off their fixture programme against Australia on Tuesday 27 September (4pm BST).
