CBS Sports reports Everton tried to sign Shakhtar Donetsk’s highly-rated forward Mykhaylo Mudryk during the summer transfer window.

The broadcaster features an interview with Shakhtar’s sporting director, Darijo Srna, who claims the Ukrainian side turned down an offer of €30 million from the Blues for the player.

Mudryk, 21, has scored in both Shakhtar’s Champions League games so far this season, netting against Celtic and RB Leipzig.

The Liverpool Echo carries quotes from Alex Iwobi, with the Everton star describing the leadership qualities defenders Conor Coady and James Tarkowski have brought to the Club.

Iwobi, who was originally speaking in our new Everton 24/7 episode, said: “You'd think Con and Tarky had been here for years.

"The way they talk to everyone, they're basically like the parents of everyone here!”

Staying with the Echo, and the paper highlights Lewis Warrington’s impressive start to his loan spell at League One Fleetwood Town.

The Everton Academy graduate, who signed a new two-year contract with Everton in May, played an important role in a 1-0 win at Peterborough United on Tuesday night and earned praise from Fleetwood assistant boss Steven Whittaker.

He said: “I thought Lewis was fantastic. We want to play through him at times and he did well at that. It’s great to see him play like that and he just needs to match those levels now week in, week out.”
