Broadhead Pens New Blues Deal

Nathan Broadhead has signed a new two-year contract at Everton to keep him at the Club until the end of June 2024.

The Blues forward completed a loan move to Wigan Athletic on Tuesday and will spend the 2022/23 season with the Championship side.

Broadhead, who joined the Blues' Academy aged 10, spent last term on loan with Sunderland and played an important role in the Black Cats' promotion via the League One play-offs.

Despite missing a portion of the season with injury, Broadhead racked up an impressive tally of 13 goals in 27 matches during his time at the Stadium of Light.

Broadhead made his senior Everton debut in December 2017, coming on as an 82nd-minute substitute in the 3-0 Europa League group stage win over Apollon Limassol in Cyprus.

The 24-year-old then scooped Everton's Under-23 Player-of-the-Season prize following the young Blues' double-winning exploits in 2018/19.

Born in Bangor, has been capped by Wales at every level from Under-17 to Under-21 and has also enjoyed a successful loan spell at Burton Albion in 2020/21.

Director of Football, Kevin Thelwell, said: "We're pleased Nathan has signed this new deal and we're excited to see him continue his development with Wigan this season.

"We've seen Nathan score goals consistently throughout his time in the Academy, and, most recently, at Sunderland in League One.

"This season is another step in his development and the chance to play regular Championship football will no doubt improve his skillset even further."
