Everton To Build Comprehensive Player Database

Everton are reaching out to ex-players as they seek to build the largest former player database in football.

The Blues are renowned throughout the game for the way they interact with those who have proudly worn the royal blue jersey over the years.

And Club officials now want to widen the net by asking all individuals who have historically played for the Men’s and Women’s teams to get in touch.

Darren Griffiths, the Club's Broadcast and Liaison Manager, who is co-ordinating the project, explained:“Evertonians love their history and, of course, love those who have made it.

“We are already in regular contact with lots of former players and we work closely with the magnificent Everton Former Players’ Foundation, but we know there are many, many more out there who we don’t have details for.

“Anybody who has represented our club is part of the Everton Family and we are keen to be able to contact them and keep them connected.

“Even if you, or a friend or member of your family, only ever made one reserve or Under-21 team appearance, please make contact. We’re also keen for those who have played for our Women’s team to get in touch.”

Darren added: “We intend to liaise regularly with all our former players to keep them fully up to speed with everything that’s going on at the Club.

“There are many ways in which we can help former players, but we need to be able to make contact first.

“We are sure, for example, there are many who would welcome a look around Goodison Park while it’s still our spiritual home and we will, of course, facilitate them.

“I am really looking forward to a great response and I am sure that, along the way, we will be putting some old pals back in contact with each other.”

As part of the project, Everton in the Community will also be opening its doors to former players, offering them a venue to meet up socially and, if they are able to, join in with occasional games of golf or five-a-side football.

Mike Salla, the Director of Health and Sport for the Club’s official charity, added: “We’ll be arranging activities, tailored by former players for former players, and we’ll also be inviting guest speakers along to advise on any number of topics, including physical and mental health and wellbeing, employment and relationship issues.”
