The tabloid understands that talks are "progressing" between the Senegal international and the Club as he is set to rejoin Everton on a short-term deal.

In the same report, the newspaper claims that the Blues are not interested in re-signing Ross Barkley or his Chelsea teammate Michy Batshuayi.

In other news, Everton are set to miss out on the signing of Maxwel Cornet.

The 25-year-old has been linked with a move to Merseyside in recent weeks, but according to a report from The Guardian, Cornet appears to be closing in on a move to West Ham United. 

Finally, Dominic Calvert-Lewin is expected to miss the opening match of the Premier League season this weekend.

Paul Joyce of The Times claims that the England international picked up a knock during training and will now undergo tests to determine the severity of the injury.
