Anthony Gordon says he’s ready to step up and take on more responsibility as Everton head closer to the beginning of a new Premier League season.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, the Blues youngster says he is aware there may be added pressure on him after a standout campaign in Royal Blue, however, he’s ready for the challenge.

"I'm really excited," he told the local outlet. "I feel like I've got a lot of responsibility on my shoulders, which I am ready for.

"I want to be much better than last year.

"I think last year I sacrificed a lot of my game because of the situation we were in, so this year I really want to contribute and excel with goals and assists as well."

In transfer news, Everton are ready to "step up" their interest in Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour, according to talkSPORT.

The 21-year-old was handed his senior debut under Frank Lampard during his time with the London club, and is believed to be given the "green light" to begin negotiations to bring the Scotland international to Goodison Park on loan.

Another midfielder the Club are believed to be keen on is Wolverhampton Wanderers' Leander Dendoncker.

The report comes from Sky Sports and The Guardian journalist Fabrizio Romano who claims Everton are eager to "sign an extra quality midfielder".

The Belgian international is currently contracted with Wolves until the summer of 2023.

Finally, rumoured Blues target Dwight McNeil is "keen on a return" to the Premier League with Burnley ready to "cash in" on the winger.

That is according to The Evening Standard who report that the Championship side will assess any potential offers that are submitted for the 22-year-old.
