Cole And Iwobi Top Star-Studded Bill At North America’s Largest Mall

Everton fans in Minnesota were treated to an evening of heroes past and present as the Blues took centre stage at North America's largest shopping mall on Tuesday night.

Forward Alex Iwobi and first-team coach Ashley Cole were among those to appear at the Mall of America's Huntington® Bank Rotunda event space, with Blues Director Graeme Sharp and his league, FA Cup and European Cup Winners' Cup-winning teammate Adrian Heath also reuniting to the delight of hundreds of watching fans and shoppers.

Heath will temporarily go from friend to foe on Wednesday evening when Everton take on Minnesota United, the in-form MLS side he has coached since their inception in 2017.

United and Canada goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair, who has helped United take 13 points from last 15 available and was last week selected for the 2022 MLS All-Star Game, also joined his boss in turning out for fans at the mall.

BLUES PLAY HOST AT NORTH AMERICA'S LARGEST MALL

The event, jointly-hosted by Everton and Minnesota United and presented by Everton's Darren Griffiths and midfielder turned pundit Leon Osman, saw all the guests look ahead to Wednesday evening's match at Allianz Field (kick-off 7pm CT, Thursday 21 July, 1am BST).

Iwobi also reflected on the impact Everton fans made during a difficult 2021/22 campaign and outlined how the Blues have been working hard on the training pitch during their stay in the US to get prepared for their opening Premier League match against Chelsea on Saturday 6 August.

Cole, who spent two years playing in the States for LA Galaxy, looked back on that period of his career and explained how much he is enjoying being part of Frank Lampard's backroom staff at Goodison Park.

Heath and Sharp rolled back the years to share stories from Everton's glory period in the mid-1980s, while also outlining their hopes for the coming season and excitement for the Club's new stadium, which is currently under construction.

Fans were reminded what Everton's new home at Bramley-Moore Dock, due to open during the 2024/25 season, will look like in a video that also outlined the progress made since work began on the development last July.

Everton historian and author Dr David France regaled tales from his many decades following the Blues and four lucky fans took away signed shirts and other prizes after jumping on stage to take part in fun competitions.

Keeper St. Clair gave Evertonians an insight into what to expect from Allianz Field - and set out his desire to secure a place in Canada's World Cup squad when his nation competes in the tournament for only the second time later this year.

Everton Fans' Forum chair Tony Sampson also took to the stage to announce Heath, scorer of 94 goals in 308 appearances for the Blues, as the winner of this year's Everton North American All-Star Award.
