Tarkowski Promises To Battle For Blues

James Tarkowski has promised supporters he will continue to battle for Everton at every opportunity following a dominant first display for the Club.

Tarkowski penned a four-year contract with the Blues this summer after the expiration of his contract at Burnley and made his first outing against Arsenal at Baltimore Ravens' M&T Bank Stadium last weekend.

That 45-minute appearance saw the 29-year-old centre-back impress, with fans encouraged by a strong and vocal defensive showing.

Sitting down in the USA to answer a range of questions submitted by Official Members, Tarkowski told evertontv: "It's nice to know that the fans have reacted well to my first 45 minutes in an Everton shirt. I'm looking forward to more games and hopefully keep that feeling going.

"I thought Evertonians might like a big tackle after working with Lee Carsley for a short period!

"Hopefully, there are plenty more to come in the coming games. Tackling is part of the game and something I really enjoy, so there will be more.

"I'm really looking forward to experiencing Goodison Park as a home game. I'm sure there'll be a few crunching tackles going in, but nice and clean, as always."

Asked about entering a confrontation between an Arsenal attacker and 18-year-old Stanley Mills, who was making his first senior Everton appearance, Tarkowski answered: "I've always talked a lot, but not always been a leader, as such. I think through my years of playing, learning the game and understanding more, it is something that's really developed over the years.

"I think with my age and experience now, looking after some of the younger lads in our squad who are still learning their way in the game is something I am there to do.

"Young Stan had a good game - and I didn't appreciate someone pushing him about."

Tarkowski covered a range of other topics, including the biggest influence on his career so far, who he has been spending the most time with on his first pre-season tour with the Toffees, what has impressed him most about Frank Lampard, how he spends his spare time away from football and much more.
