Under-21s Midfielder McAllister Signs New Deal

Everton Under-21s midfielder Sean McAllister has signed a one-year contract extension with the Club until the end of June 2023.

The Northern Ireland youth international has been rewarded with a new deal having made impressive progress since joining the Blues’ Academy in 2019.

A hard-working midfielder with a varied passing range and eye for goal, McAllister explained why he believes he is in the perfect environment to elevate his game.

The 19-year-old told evertonfc.com: “It feels brilliant to sign this contract.

“Myself and my family are so happy, as I’ve loved being at Everton ever since I joined three years ago.

“It’s such a family-orientated club. Everyone around the place makes you feel so welcome.

“Now I just want to kick on and improve all aspects of my game. I want to create more chances and develop my defensive play.”

The 2022/23 season will see McAllister work with new Everton Under-21s Head Coach Paul Tait – a manager he enjoyed significant success with during his time with the Blues’ Under-18s.

McAllister captained Everton Under-18s on several occasions and played a key role in their thrilling run to the FA Youth Cup quarter-finals in 2020/21, memorably netting a match-winning double as the young Blues beat tournament favourites Chelsea 2-1 in the last 16.

“I am very excited to be working with Paul Tait again,” McAllister said.

“When I heard the news that he was promoted to the Under-21s, I was over the moon.

“We have a very good relationship. He has helped me a lot on and off the field.

“I can’t wait for the new season start and I want to hit the ground running.”

Everton Director of Football, Kevin Thelwell, added: “We are very pleased Sean has signed a new contract.

“Sean has a lot of the key elements you require as a midfielder – technical ability, energy, composure and a strong work-ethic– and we are looking forward to helping him continue to progress.”
