Transfer rumours dominate today's headlines, with Everton linked with a move for a defender.

According to a report from Nottingham Post, the Blues are interested in Moussa Niakhate of Mainz this summer.

This news follows a report that newly-promoted Nottingham Forrest had bid for the Frenchman.

However, Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg writes on Twitter their offer was "far below" the £8.6million valuation that Mainz have for the player and are now out of the race to sign the 26-year-old.

West Ham United and Newcastle United are said to be challenging the Blues for his signature.

Another defender who could be on his way to Goodison Park is left-back Owen Wijndal.

Dutch outlet De Telegraaf has named Everton as one of the contenders to land the AZ Alkmaar star.

There is interest from Eredivisie champions Ajax for his signature, and from clubs across Europe's top-flight.

With Wijndal's contract due to expire in 2024, the report expects him to be available for a fee in the region of £8.6million.

Regarding the future of Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Daily Star reporter Paul Brown has stated the Club are yet to receive any bids for the England international.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Brown said: "As far as I understand it, Everton haven’t had any bids for him, and it doesn’t look like any are forthcoming in the near future.”

Finally, The i claims Richarlison feels this summer is the right time to leave Everton.

While their sources state the Brazilian "holds great affection for Everton", he feels a new challenge is required in order to preserve his status with his national side.

The newspaper adds that no bids have been made, but Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in the 25-year-old.
