Everton are believed to be close to appointing a new Academy Director, according to a report from The Athletic.

Hundreds of applications have been received for the vacancy and it is understood that Gareth Prosser is the leading candidate.

Prosser previously worked alongside Everton Director of Football Kevin Thelwell in a similar role at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

During their time together in the West Midlands, Wolves were at one stage ranked as the third-best academy in England.

In transfer news, Sky Sports News claims an announcement of the signing for James Tarkowski won't be made until July once his contract with Burnley expires.

According to their sources, the defender has already completed a medical with the Club and is currently on holiday ahead of the move being made official.

Another defender who could be on his way to Goodison Park is Fenerbahce's Kim Min-jae.

Turkish website Sabah reported earlier this month that the Blues had submitted their first bid for the 25-year-old. However, South Korean journalist Jason Lee believes this not to be the case.

Sevilla are also believed to be interested in the South Korean centre-back.
