Everton attacker Anthony Gordon was on target as England Under-21s secured a 5-0 away win over Kosovo in a U21 European Championship qualifier on Friday.
The Toffees star – who recently was named Everton’s Players’ Player and Young Player of the Season – scored his fourth England Under-21s goal in just his seventh appearance for the young Lions when he powered home a header from Max Aarons’ cross on 13 minutes.
England were already a goal to the good by that point, with Keane Lewis-Potter having put them in front just two minutes into the contest.
Gordon’s effort doubled England’s advantage and they went 3-0 ahead when Cameron Archer slotted in shortly after the half-time break.
With the result beyond doubt, Gordon was replaced by Lille forward Angel Gomes on 55 minutes.
England did not let up, though, and Archer bagged his second goal of night on 71 minutes when he finished off a slick team move.
The scoring was concluded late in the piece when Kosovo’s Arjanit Krasniqi put into his own goal.
England, who have secured top spot in qualification Group G and therefore a place in next summer’s U21 European Championship finals, are back in action against Slovenia on Tuesday at Huddersfield Town’s John Smith’s Stadium.
