Following votes from the public and a panel of football experts, the Premier League announced that Jordan Pickford's incredible goalline stop in the 1-0 win over Chelsea has been voted as the inaugural winner of the Save of the Season award.

The England number one topped a shortlist featuring nine other stops by goalkeepers across the campaign.

Quotes from the Everton goalkeeper feature in the Liverpool Echo, in which the 28-year-old believes the battle to be Gareth Southgate's first-choice in the net has enhanced his game at club level.

"Being England's number one it's about me performing week in week out for Everton and I've got to be bob on every day day in training and give 100% and I think I am that person who, every time I'm on that training pitch," he said.

"I do my best to improve every day in training and if I can learn something new or if we need to work on something to get better we'll do it, but it's just about giving my all and trying to get better and not being happy being England's number one because there are always people trying to chase you and get that spot off you so it's about keeping pushing and pushing boundaries."

In transfer news, Goal reports that Everton scouts will be in attendance for today's Championship play-off final as they consider a move for defender Levi Colwill.

The Chelsea youngster has spent the season on loan at Huddersfield Town as they are set to compete with Nottingham Forrest today for a place in the Premier League next season.

However, the Blues could face competition for the 19-year-old as "a host of Premier League clubs" are interested in the centre-back the article adds.

Finally, the Daily Record speculates that Everton forward Ellis Simms could play his football with Rangers next season.

The 21-year-old enjoyed an impressive six-month spell with Heart of Midlothian in the Scottish top-flight, helping the Edinburgh side to the Scottish Cup final.

The Scottish outlet spoke to former Rangers player Kenny Miller who has called on the Europa League runners-up to attempt to bring him to Ibrox.

“I really like the look of him," he told the paper. "When you see the trouble Rangers had with strikers towards the end of the season, it’s something I’d consider.

"It would probably be another loan move.

"The physicality he’s got, the running power and the quality of goals he’s scored in that short period at Hearts - he’s someone I think could be interesting.

“At the age he’s at, playing in that Rangers team - I think he could score goals."
