Mykolenko: I Love Evertonians

Vitalii Mykolenko declared his love for Evertonians, while insisting three points against Leicester City made him far happier than notching his maiden goal for the Club.

The 22-year-old set Everton on the road to victory with a stunning early volley at King Power Stadium, becoming the first Ukrainian to score for the Blues in the process.

Buoyed by a deafening sold-out away section, Mason Holgate then nodded home what proved to be a decisive blow on the half-hour mark after Patson Daka had equalised for the Foxes.

Mykolenko's exceptional form and attitude have seen him become one of the most popular figures among supporters and teammates alike - but, while speaking of his appreciation for the reaction to his goal, the full-back remained characteristically level-headed after Sunday's triumph.

"Me scoring is not important," he told evertonfc.com. "The most important thing, by far, was three points for us. The game was very difficult, but we come out of it with the win and that's what makes me happiest.

"All that matters in the remaining games is picking up wins. It is not important who we play.

"We need three points every game - and that is what we will be aiming for.

"When [my] goal went in, everybody came to me and that makes me happy because that also gives me great confidence. It was a great feeling and I am very happy to celebrate the moment with my teammates.

"And the fans... Wow. Our fans are always brilliant - at home, away... It doesn't matter where we play, they are always brilliant.

"I want to thank the fans a lot.

"I love them."

After completing a move to Goodison Park from Dynamo Kyiv during the January transfer window, Mykolenko also highlighted the role manager Frank Lampard has played in his impressive adaptation to Premier League football.

"With every game, I feel more and more confident," he continued.

"The manager has given me great confidence, particularly during the breaks between games when we've had chance to work on the training pitch.

"I had conversations with him and afterwards, I felt myself growing in confidence more and more."
