Pickford Hails 'Top Drawer' Teammate

Jordan Pickford hailed the attitude and quality of "top drawer" Vitalii Mykolenko after the Ukraine international struck his first Everton goal in the vital 2-1 away victory at Leicester City.

Mykolenko's stunning early opener and Mason Holgate's predatory finish - sandwiched between Patson Daka's equaliser - saw the Blues record a first win on the road since August and climb out of the relegation zone in the process.

Speaking afterwards, Pickford highlighted the importance of remaining focused, with another away game - against Watford - just three days away.

"Hard work [was the key]," said Pickford. "We've said it all week, we said it after the Chelsea game last week... Commitment, attitude, team spirit... That's what gets you over the line and that's what gets you three points.

"That's what happened today against a very good side.

"We're all pleased for Myko. His first goal was decent... Not too bad! He defends well every game and he's got a goal today.

"Myko has come in and learned English straight away, he's a great lad and his attitude is top drawer.

"Obviously, it's sad what is going on [in Ukraine], but his attitude and dedication are second to none.

"It was all about the team performance for us today.

"To win 2-1 away from home - it feels like forever since we last won away, but today we showed the team spirit that we need.

"Now we mustn't get carried away. We've got to go again on Wednesday."

HIGHLIGHTS: LEICESTER CITY 1-2 EVERTON

Mykolenko and Holgate on target in vital win.

Pickford, once again, was in inspired form to help the Toffees to victory.

England's first-choice custodian made seven saves in total, the pick of them coming in the second half to keep out Nampalys Mendy's top-corner-bound effort and a reaction stop to keep out Harvey Barnes' close-range shot.

"I was!" he admitted, when asked about being busy against the Foxes. "But that's what I'm there to do - when called upon to make the saves.

"That's what I did today.

"I just want to keep going. I'm not getting carried away - none of us are."
