Everton Under-18s signed off the 2021/22 season with a 3-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest at Finch Farm.

Forest, who will take on Manchester United in the FA Youth Cup final later this month, started brightly and left-back Kyle McAdam opened the scoring on 17 minutes.

Northern Ireland youth international Jamie McDonnell then doubled the visitors' lead seven minutes before the half-time interval, before Joe Gardner added another 10 minutes after the restart.

Everton midfielder Isaac Heath reduced the deficit midway through the second half, but, despite late pressure, the young Blues could not find another way through Forest's stubborn defence.

The loss means Paul Tait's side finish 10th in the Under-18 Premier League North section, having amassed 31 points from 26 games.
