Tony Sampson has been elected as the new chairperson of the Everton Fans’ Forum, becoming the first Evertonian living outside the UK to take up the role. 

Chicago-based Tony will serve for at least the next 12 months. Siobhán Doran and Barry Williams have been elected as vice chairs.

The roles of chair and vice chair are voted for by Forum members on an annual basis, with officers able to hold their post for a maximum of three years.

Tony joined the Fans’ Forum in February 2020 as one of its first international representatives and has served as vice chair for the past year.

A Scouser and still a current Season Ticket Member, Tony has been an active contributor across several of the Forum’s working groups, including those focused on fan involvement in the plans for the Club’s new stadium and communications, as well as establishing an international group, through which he has helped build the international supporters’ network and championed issues for overseas Blues.

Tony said: “I’m really proud to have been elected as chair of the Everton Fans’ Forum and I am looking forward to building on the excellent work of my predecessor, Jazz Bal, and outgoing vice chair, David Wycherley.

“I know how much importance Evertonians rightly place on having their voice heard and being involved on the issues that matter most to them. The Forum will continue to play an important role in making sure that happens.

“I’m also delighted that Siobhán and Barry have been elected as vice chairs. They’re hugely passionate Blues who have already made a significant impact since joining the Forum, whether that be in bringing supporters together to create the best atmosphere at Goodison Park, or building awareness of the issues around sexism in football through the #HerGameToo movement.

“We’ll also be opening applications for three positions on the Forum next month as some members step down, and I look forward to welcoming new ideas and perspectives at an important time for our Club.”

The Club would like to put on record its thanks to outgoing Fans’ Forum chair Jazz Bal for his efforts and dedication to the role. Tony will formally take over the position from Jazz in June.
