Everton Boss Gives Team News Update

Everton boss Frank Lampard has confirmed Yerry Mina and Dominic Calvert-Lewin are available to face Chelsea at Goodison Park on Sunday, but Ben Godfrey will be out “for a few weeks” with a quadriceps injury.

Godfrey sustained the problem during the warm-up ahead of last weekend’s Merseyside derby and Lampard says it will be a “close call” whether the defender features again this season.

Tom Davies has returned to training after more than five months out with a hamstring injury but is not yet ready for competitive action. Lampard said he is hopeful the Academy graduate will be able to play before the end of the campaign.

Midfield duo Donny van de Beek (groin) and Andre Gomes are unavailable for the Chelsea game.

Andros Townsend (knee) and Nathan Patterson (ankle) are out for the remainder of the season.

Colombia international Mina made his First-Team comeback in last Wednesday’s 1-1 home draw with Leicester City but did not feature in the Merseyside derby four days later as the Club continues to manage his recovery from a quadriceps injury.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference at Goodison Park, Lampard explained: “Yerry is back in the squad.

“It [Mina not playing against Liverpool] was more being careful with him because he had been out for a while and played the previous game a few days before.

“Ben is out will be for a few weeks. We would love to get him before the end of the season, but it will be a close call.

“Dominic is back in the squad. He has been training in the past couple of days.

“Donny isn’t fit, nor is Andre Gomes.”

Lampard set out the next steps for midfielder Davies as he continues his path back to optimum fitness following an extended spell on the sidelines.

The Blues boss also revealed how the 23-year-old’s commitment in training and deep passion for Everton has made a significant impression.

“He is a great lad,” Lampard added.

“He’s been on the training pitch with us now for a couple of weeks. He is so dedicated to the cause. It comes out of his veins.

“He has worked very hard to get to this stage.

“We just need to get him more training minutes, and hopefully more game minutes, which we can produce at the training ground for him.

“He has been out for a while. Hopefully he can contribute in the latter part of the season.”
