George Called Up To England Squad

Gabby George has been called up to the senior England squad ahead of Friday evening's FIFA Women's World Cup qualifier away to North Macedonia.

The Blues defender was originally named in the Under-23s squad who were preparing for a double-header against the Netherlands, but has now departed the camp in Spain to join Sarina Wiegman's squad.

It's the 25-year-old's first Lionesses call since the World Cup qualifying campaign in 2019.

George has been a stand-out performer for the Toffees this season, missing only one match for Everton in the Women's Super League.

England will look to maintain their unbeaten start to qualifying for next year's tournament in Australia and New Zealand on Friday, before welcoming Simone Magill's Northern Ireland to Windsor Park on Tuesday 12 April.
