Super Sunday Derby Date for North American Toffees

North American Toffees will gather in numbers in South Carolina next month to cheer on the Blues in the Merseyside derby.

The Carolina Toffees plan to link up with USL League One side Greenville Triumph in South Carolina for the eagerly-awaited clash at Anfield on Sunday 24 April.

Before the game, a Q&A is planned with Greenville Triumph head coach John Harkes, along with the team from hummel - technical partners for both Everton and Greenville Triumph - and is supported by Jurgen Mainka, CEO and founding partner for Pulse Sports and Entertainment, Everton’s strategic consultants in the US.

And with games, giveaways and Club merchandise on hand too, organisers hope the gathering can also help to raise vital funds for local charities.

Carolina Toffees’ representative Gwyn Thompson, who recently attended the Premier League game against Manchester City at Goodison, said: “We want to get everyone together, so we are bringing the North American Toffees supporters’ clubs together downtown for the derby, and we’re going to do it with a local soccer club in Greenville Triumph.

“We have a real engagement with the Triumph team locally, with their supporters’ club, Reedy River Riot, and we will make sure that the leads for the supporters’ clubs get the invitations as we load everyone into the Triumph’s Hummel store in downtown Greenville SC and cheer on the Blues!

“In early April our Anderson branch leader, Brock Elder, will be with former USA Internationals Kyle Martino & Edson Buddle to unveil a brand new accessible multi-purpose court to his community.

“Through collaboration with County Officials and supporters’ groups, Brock was able to help renovate an entire park, featuring a playground, baseball field and new dugouts, with still more to come.

“Because of these efforts he was recognised by winning the American Outlaws Impact Pillar of the Community award, as well as recognised by the Greenville Triumph for the Community Star Award.”

The Carolina Toffees - one of over 50 affiliated Everton supporters’ clubs across the US - was formed in 2013. Headquarters are Charlotte, North Carolina. It currently has around 450 members with ‘branches’ in both North and South Carolina covering an area of 78,000 square miles.
