Sweden Star Bennison Eyes Snowball Effect

Hanna Bennison believes the shot of confidence from back-to-back victories can propel Everton Women to more success when they host Leicester City in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League match against on Saturday (5.30pm GMT).

The Foxes travel to Walton Hall Park looking to make amends for their two defeats suffered against Everton so far this season.

Having been promoted to the English top-flight for the very first time this season, Leicester struggled at the beginning of the campaign but have enjoyed a good run of form since late December, winning four of their last seven league outings.

Club-record signing Bennison knows that this weekend’s match could play out very differently in comparison to their previous meetings this campaing, but has assured the team’s hard work at Finch Farm will put them in the best possible position to pick up maximum points.

“The feeling around the camp is good,” the Sweden international told evertonfc.com.

“I have a good feeling about our game this weekend.

“Those two wins against Charlton Athletic and Aston Villa were so important for us as a team.

“The energy we get from winning is great.

“It shows that we are a good team and that we’re going in the right direction.

“We’ve grown a lot since then, we’re feeling confident and stronger as a team.

“We’ve done a lot of preparation for Leicester, both off and on the pitch.

“We know how important it is to keep going and building upon that momentum.

“The girls are ready to go and pick up the three points, but it will be a tough game so we will need to be at our best.

The 19-year-old showcased her talent in the win over Aston Villa, providing an incredible 30-yard cross-field pass that proved to be an assist for Aurora ‘Yaya’ Galli's winner.

She also contributed during the league win over Leicester earlier in the season, completing an impressive run before playing in Simone Magill to slot into the Foxes’ net.

Reflecting on those two key moments, ‘Benni’ admits she enjoys those pressure moments in matches and believes she thrives when the match result hangs in the balance.

“I think I play better when I’m under pressure,” she explained.

“I like when it’s a tough game or when the clock is ticking down and we are looking for a winner.

“I love those games and I always want to win of course.

“It wasn’t something we had practiced to be honest!

“I saw Yaya’s run before I got the ball, and I already knew what to do.

“Personally, I feel more confident in the last few weeks, not just because of the victories but because of the team effort.

“I feel it’s easier to play in this team now because I’ve got to know my teammates so well.

“It’s always better when you have a strong connection with your teammates.”

Prior to Everton's two consecutive wins, Bennison enjoyed success with her national team as they won the Algarve Cup during the recent international break.

She returned to Finch Farm with a spring in her step and hopes that her hunger for success can help drive the team on.

“To win the Algarve Cup with Sweden was so important,” she added, with a beaming smile.

“I love to win so to be able to achieve that with my country was fantastic.

“I feel I’ve came back to Finch Farm with added energy to my game and hopefully I can help the team to get some good results.”
