Inspired Blues Win At Aston Villa

Aurora Galli's stunning strike secured a hard-fought victory for Everton Women as they beat Aston Villa 1-0 in the Barclays FA Women's Super League.

It's two wins and two clean sheets on the bounce for Chris Roberts' side who fought brilliantly to bring home all three points.

The contest was closely fought in the opening 45, with chances limited for both sides.

Villa came close to an opener as Ramona Petzelberger called Sandy MacIver into action with a great save with her foot to steer the ball away from danger.

Everton had chances of their own in the Villains box, with Megan Finnigan calling Hannah Hampton into action with a save at the near post.

Into the second half and the introduction of Hanna Bennison and Poppy Pattinson added appeared to bring added life to the visitors whose momentum continued to grow as the game went on.

That half-time change proved vital to Everton's night, with the Swedish sensation creating the decisive opportunity for the Toffees to convert.

Bennison played an excellent 40 yard pass into the box to find Galli as the Italian took a touch before burying it into the far corner in front of the travelling support.

A deserving victory for the Blues who will look to carry their positive momentum when they face Leicester City next weekend.
