Roberts: Results Will Come For Blues

Chris Roberts believes that positive results will come for Everton Women in the league, but the squad must work on the finer details of their game.

Aston Villa struck twice in the first half leaving the Blues with an uphill battle to get back into the match in wet and windy weather conditions.

The interim manager reflected on the defeat, insisting that the team must work on their game management if they are to pick up points in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League.

"Ultimately, we haven’t managed the game well enough today," he told evertontv.

"We needed to have a strong first half in those tough weather conditions.

"I didn’t mind if we played with or against the wind in the first half, we just had to deal with it better.

"It’s not down to a lack of effort. The girls give everything for this team and for this Club.

"We just have to be better in those small details in the game.

"We had chances, hit the woodwork on numerous occasions but that goal just never came so we’re very disappointed."

Evertonians came down to Walton Hall Park in their numbers on Sunday and their support didn’t go unnoticed for those on the pitch and in the dugout.

The Scot praised those who braved the wild weather and promised that their support will be repaid with results on the park in the coming games.

"The fans as always were incredible today,” Roberts added.

"They rally behind us, they’re a massive support for us.

"I can’t thank them enough, it’s now our job to give them something to cheer about.

"We’re working towards that. To score goals, get points on the board, play attacking football.

"The reality is that we need to start winning games and hopefully we can do that with their support behind us."
