What The Papers Say - 11 February

Ahead of this weekend's match against Leeds United, the Liverpool Echo reflects on Lampard's impact on Everton's style of play in his first two matches in charge.

The Merseyside outlet's statistics show that the Blues attempted 477 passes against Newcastle United, 388 of which were completed.

Everton's seasonal average prior to Tuesday's match was 386.48 attempted and 303.95 completed.

However, reporter Chris Beesley adds that Everton now must capitalise on these successful phases in possession.

He wrote: "The base figures show that with just a few days of work at Finch Farm, Lampard has been able to get Everton’s players to pass the ball more and find their own team-mates more effectively.

"Now starts the hard work of deploying this in a much more potent fashion because as the new boss knows, he needs to hit the ground running in terms of accruing Premier League points."

The Blues continue to work hard ahead of Saturday's Premier League encounter at Goodison Park, and The Athletic discusses how one of the Club's new backroom staff has impressed the squad at USM Finch Farm.

Journalist Patrick Boyland writes: “There have been positive noises about the overall standard of training sessions since the new regime took charge, with hugely-experienced coach Paul Clement among those said to have impressed.

“Numbers have been high, with a blank slate afforded to all members of the extended group."

In transfer news, Everton have been linked with a move for Ajax defender Noussair Mazraoui.

Spanish outlet Fichajes speculates that Everton are among one of several clubs in England interested in the 24-year-old.

The Morocco right-back is out of contract with the Dutch club and their source claims he is "highly unlikely" to stay beyond this season.

Blues forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin, meanwhile, is said to have attracted interest from two Premier League clubs.

The Daily Express believes West Ham United and Manchester United are keen on a move for the England international this summer.

Calvert-Lewin is said to be on a shortlist of four strikers for the Red Devils, while West Ham are prioritising a move for Chelsea's Armando Broja.

The 24-year-old's deal with Everton runs until June 2025.
