Everton Women interim manager Chris Roberts praised his side for their performance during their match against Reading, but stated that they must turn their positives into points.

The Blues led for a majority of Sunday’s encounter, but two late strikes from the Royals denied the hosts of a deserved point.

The Scot hailed his squad for their execution of their game plan, and is confident that points will come for the side if they build on their performance at the weekend.

“I can’t fault the players for what they did in the first half,” Roberts told evertontv. “What they gave was incredible.

“They followed the game plan to a tee.

“Their desire, work rate, energy was brilliant.

“It’s a great indication to me of how much they have taken on in the three days that we have had with them.

“In the second half in the last part we struggled a bit.

“It’s about better managing those end of the game moments to see the result out because we had great control for a big part of the game.

“Loads of positives to take, but ultimately we need to turn positives into points, and we need those three points next week against Aston Villa.”

It was the first time in over seven weeks since the squad had performed in front of their fans at Walton Hall Park.

Roberts expressed his gratitude for their support and is confident that they can push the Blues on to secure three points when Everton hosts Aston Villa next weekend.

“The fans today were incredible; we could feel their support from the touchline.

“We love that, and we hope it continues because to have them behind us at Walton Hall Park means everything.

“Hopefully we can use their support next week to propel us to three points.

“Every day we work, we grind to make sure we get up that table.

“It starts next weekend in a really difficult game against Aston Villa.

“We will have a full week’s preparation and we will do everything that we can for the win.”
