Everton Strike Four In Women’s FA Cup

Everton Women progressed into the fifth round of the Vitality Women’s FA Cup with a comfortable 4-0 win away to Huddersfield Town.

It was a dominant display from Jean-Luc Vasseur’s side who were in control of the match across the 90 minutes.

Anna Anvegård got the Blues started when she connected with Kenza Dali’s cross from the right, tapping home at the near post after four minutes.

From there Everton continued to grow in confidence, playing much of the opening 45 minutes in the hosts’ half.

Eight minutes from the half-time whistle, Valérie Gauvin doubled the Toffees lead.

Another assist for Dali who played the ball into the area from the corner flag, her international teammate rising highest to head home before the break.

Five minutes into the second half and Gauvin got in on the act again with her second of the afternoon.

Hanna Bennison showed her class with an excellent piece of control outside the Terriers box, before a backheeled pass found Aurora Galli charging into the penalty box.

The Italy international passed it to Gauvin who took a yard of space before slotting it home into the bottom left corner.

Everton’s fourth was the pick of the bunch.

Bennison proved a handful for the Huddersfield defence yet again as she broke away along the right side of the area.

The Swede spotted substitute Claire Emslie on the opposite side as the Scotland forward leapt into the air and connected with a bicycle kick that fired into the net in the final minutes of the match.

An excellent display from the Blues who will discover their fifth round opponents on Monday night.

Up next for Everton is a visit from Reading next weekend in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League.
