I have tears rolling down my cheeks as I begin to write this - I'm 54 years old, but the feelings are still that strong.

Growing up, I lived in Melling in Sefton and none other than Andy King moved into a bungalow nearby.

Of course, myself and the kids by ours couldn't believe it and four of us plucked up the courage to go to his house and knock on for him.

His wife answered the door and we politely asked, 'Is Andy in?!'...

We had no idea what sort of reaction we were going to get.

His wife turned back into the house and shouted at the top of her voice, 'Andy! Someone's here for you!'

Andy came to the door and saw us standing there, open-mouthed, but immediately spotted the football and asked if we wanted to go for a kick about.

We couldn't believe it.

He got his boots and off we went to a small field by our house.

The word quickly got around and it ended up being about 30-a-side, with Andy King at the back and me up front in one of the teams!

The highlight, undoubtedly, was when he played the most perfect 35-yard pass to me and I slotted it past the goalkeeper.

He ran over to me and we all celebrated.

It's my favourite football memory ever - my goal, Everton legend Andy King with the assist.

Then, as quickly as he came out, he had to go.

What a player. What a man.
