IwobI's Nigeria Cruise Through

Alex Iwobi completed 90 minutes as Nigeria defeated Guinea-Bissau 2-0 in Cameroon to advance to the Africa Cup of Nations last-16 as the only side boasting a clean sweep of group stage victories.

Everton forward Iwobi, who came off the bench in victories over Egypt and Sudan, played in a role behind the centre-forward pair of Kelechi Iheanacho and Umar Sadiq.

And it was the two strikers who combined to break the deadlock 11 minutes after half-time, Leicester player Iheanacho teeing-up Sadiq, who plays his club football for Almeria in Spain, to finish into the bottom corner.

Nigeria put the outcome in Garoua beyond doubt when William Troost-Ekong of Watford converted into an empty net after terrific play from substitute Moses Simon in the build-up.

Iwobi earned his 54th senior cap in the game and will be eyeing appearance number 55 for his country when Nigeria play their first knockout fixture – against opponents to be determined by tomorrow's closing group fixtures – back in Garoua on Sunday.
