Lucy Graham is confident Everton Women can improve on their form as they embark on the second half of the season.
The Scotland international expressed her disappointment from the first half of the campaign, but is confident the team’s fortunes will return in their favour in due course.
“Things don’t just change overnight.” Graham told evertonfc.com. “We’re going through a transitional phase at the minute.
“It’s difficult but you have got to turn up and do what you can on the day.
“At the moment we’re falling short of that.
Our scheduled away match at Aston Villa on Saturday 8 January has been postponed following FA approval as a result of an increase in positive COVID-19 cases in the Blues squad.

Details of the rearranged fixture will be confirmed in due course.
“Right now, we’re not getting the luck we deserve.
“That’s football sometimes and I think we just need to stay honest to ourselves.
“The break came at a good time for us to break that bad momentum that we are going through at the minute.
“It’s about belief and having confidence in yourself to go and make something happen in a game.
“I think when we concede goals cheaply on the counter-attack it puts a negative effort when we go forward because you’re conscious of conceding a goal at the other end.
“That’s just something that happens in football, and we need to trust each other as players and have confidence in each other that we can come back from this.”

The Toffees midfielder highlighted the strength of the squad and her confidence that the team can still have a successful season.
She added that the team must continue to work hard and perhaps show more of a ferocious side to their game.
“There’s no question about our capabilities,” Graham added.
“Sometimes we’re struggling in the final third to create opportunities.
“That’s one of the main things we need to look at.

“The rest of the game can take care of itself, but I think we are lacking that belief to get the ball into the back of the net.
“We can be a bit better at being more aggressive and more streetwise.
“Yes you can come away to teams and play the better football and be the better team on the day, but if they have the bit between their teeth, make tactical fouls and break up the game then it can be difficult.
“I think we can take a leaf out of other teams’ book and be a bit smarter off the ball and stop conceding chances.”
