Björn: Win In London Can Regain Confidence

Nathalie Björn is hopeful Everton Women can return to winning ways when the Blues travel to London to face Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday (2pm GMT kick-off).

It’s the final outing for Jean-Luc Vasseur's side this calendar year and following the disappointment of a Continental Cup exit on Wednesday night, Sweden international Björn believes three points in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League would be the ideal tonic.

“We are very disappointed about the result and our performance against Manchester United,” she told evertonfc.com. “But there’s no time to think about that now.

“We need to focus on the next game against Spurs.

“It’s another big game and we can’t feel sorry for ourselves.”

A win on Sunday would take Everton within three points of Spurs, a side the Toffees beat home and away in the league last season.

However, both sides recruited several new players last summer, including Björn, who believes this weekend’s match presents a new challenge.

“It’s good that the team won there last season, it’s good for confidence, but both sides have new teams so it’s going to be a different game," she continued.

“It’s going to be a tough game like every game in this league.

“For us, it’s important that we produce a good performance so we get our confidence back.

“We know that we can play good football, it’s just about doing that on a regular basis.

“I really hope we can do that on Sunday and then the results will come in the new year.”

This season has been the 24-year-old’s first taste of football outside of her homeland.

While the Olympic silver medallist admitted the start of her Everton career has been a "rollercoaster", she is confident the form of herself and the team will improve in the new year.

“The first half of the season has went by very quickly," added Björn.

“We don’t like the place where we are right now.

“It’s a process and we need keep building.

“We all know that it is a project, and we want to reach the top.

“It starts from game-to-game with hard work in our performances and the points will come.”

Sunday’s match will be available to watch live on The FA Player. Kick-off is at 2pm (GMT) and you can watch live by clicking here.
