Benitez Names Everton XI For Chelsea

Ellis Simms makes his Premier League debut and there is a first top-flight start this term for Jarrad Branthwaite, as manager Rafa Benitez is forced into five changes for Thursday’s Premier League meeting with Chelsea.

Anthony Gordon and Alex Iwobi come into the team and Jonjoe Kenny begins his first league game since 1 November 2020.

Mason Holgate makes his 100th Premier League appearance and could potentially feature in a back three with fellow Englishmen Branthwaite and Michael Keane.

Simms leads the line in front of a four-man midfield. Gordon and Iwobi play on the wings and Andre Gomes and Abdoulaye Doucoure occupy the engine-room positions.

Kenny and Ben Godfrey are Everton’s wing-backs. Jordan Pickford plays in goal.

Allan, Seamus Coleman and Jean-Philippe Gbamin are named among Everton’s substitutes.

That trio are joined on the bench by Lewis Dobbin and Tyler Onyango and goalkeepers Asmir Begovic and Andy Lonergan.
