Richarlison's First English Interview

Richarlison crowned his rollercoaster Monday night at Goodison Park by giving a first interview in English.

The Brazilian, who began Everton’s fightback against Arsenal when he reacted quickest to Demarai Gray’s shot off the bar to steer home, is devoting a large share of his free time to studying the language of his adopted country.

And Richarlison spoke to evertontv as hush finally descended over Goodison following the tumult created by Gray’s wonderful, last-gasp winning strike.

“I’m focused as we need more victories,” said Richarlison. “I’m very happy with these fans, my friends! I’m very happy. Let’s keep this spirit. It’s a good three points and very important in the Premier League.”

Richarlison playfully posed for dressing-room pictures with the matchball after twice having ‘goals’ ruled out before gaining reward for his perseverance with 10 minutes remaining.

He was originally denied when the VAR concluded the forward had strayed fractionally offside as he moved to connect with Andros Townsend’s free-kick one minute before half-time.

The impression it wasn’t Richarlison’s night strengthened after he slammed an emphatic finish past Aaron Ramsadale in Arsenal’s goal only for the VAR to call offside again, the South American in front of Gabriel Magalhaes by a barely perceptible margin as Abdoulaye Doucoure released the pass.

Richarlison refused to throw in the towel, however, scoring a third Premier League goal this term to level, then celebrating wildly with his teammates following Gray’s remarkable winning effort.

Watch above or here to listen to Richarlison’s views on the atmosphere generated by Evertonians as their team tore into Arsenal, the 24-year-old’s thoughts on his ‘hat-trick’ and a declaration on what Everton need to do next after a victory that resulted in a four-place leap in the Premier League standings.
