Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has spoken with BBC Radio 5 Live on the competition he faces for a starting position in the England squad.

The Blues number one stated that he wants his international teammates to perform well at their respective clubs so that they can be in the best possible position to help their national team.

In particular, Pickford has been impressed by Aaron Ramsdale's performances this season with Arsenal.

"He's a great lad, Rammers," he told the radio station. "I'm delighted that he's flying.

"I see the games and he's making worldies against Leicester! But that's what you want. He's your team-mate, he's your friend.

"You don't want them not going well, you want them to be in a good moment. I think that's what we all want as a nation - people doing well for each other.

"Definitely, the same for Sam [Johnstone]. We're playing for one badge, which is England.

"We get on really well, we train really hard and we push each other in training. And it just brings out the best of us."

Italian outlet Calciomercato, meanwhile, speculates that Everton are interested in signing Napoli winger Lorenzo Insigne.

The 30-year-old has scored 114 goals in 411 appearances while in Italy, with a return of four goals in his first 11 matches this season.

His contract is set to expire at the end of the 2021/22 campaign.

A return to Goodison Park could be on the cards for midfielder Ross Barkley, according to TEAMtalk.

The outlet speculates that the Blues are preparing a January loan offer with an option to buy for the Chelsea midfielder.

The Everton Academy graduate has made 179 appearances for the Toffees , scoring 27 goals and assisting on 28 occasions.
