Gordon's England Under-21 Call

Everton forward Anthony Gordon's terrific form over the past month has been rewarded with a first call-up to England's Under-21 squad for a pair of matches this month.

Gordon started his first Premier League game this term in the draw at Manchester United last month and also played from the beginning against Watford a fortnight ago.

The Academy graduate came off the bench in the meeting with Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday and was denied his first Everton goal only by a sprawling save from Wolves keeper Jose Sa.

England Under-21 manager Lee Carsley, the former Everton midfielder, has included Gordon in a 22-man squad for games against Czech Republic and Georgia.

Gordon played under Carsley in an England Under-20 fixture in October last year and has represented his country at Under-18 and Under-19 level.

England host Czech Republic in a European Championship qualifying fixture at Burnley's Turf Moor home on Thursday 11 November, kicking off at 7pm (GMT).

Carsley's side travel to Georgia for a friendly match on Tuesday 16 November that starts at 4pm (GMT).

Elijah Campbell, meanwhile, is selected in an England Under-18 squad that will participate in the four-nation Pinatar Tournament in Spain.

Defender Campbell, 17, joined Everton aged 13 and was instrumental in a run to last season's FA Youth Cup quarter-finals, which featured victories over the big-hitting pair of Chelsea and Manchester City.

He has started seven Premier League 2 matches for David Unsworth's Everton Under-23s this term and was on target in the 4-2 victory over Leeds United last month.

Campbell played all three games against Football League opposition in the Papa John's Trophy. He was capped by England Under-18s last month, coming off the bench during a 3-0 win over Russia.

England Under-18s start their Pinatar Tournament campaign against Holland on Thursday 11 November. They tackle Belgium two days later on Saturday 13 November and complete their fixtures on Monday 15 November when Portugal provide the opposition.

All three matches get under way at 5.30pm (GMT).
