Delph: I'll Give Everything To Win

Fabian Delph says he will give "everything I've got" to help Everton return to winning ways after returning to full fitness following a shoulder problem.

The 31-year-old midfielder ended a 10-week injury absence as a half-time substitute in the 2-1 defeat to Wolves on Monday night, producing an impressive performance that helped the Blues claw a way back into the contest.

Despite making an impact, Delph insists any positive feelings on his comeback were overshadowed by the frustration of the result.

With focus now on Sunday's clash with Tottenham Hotspur at Goodison Park, he says the Blues can ill-afford to make the same mistakes against Antonio Conte's side.

"We’ve got to look ahead because we’ve got a big game coming against Spurs," he exclusively told evertonfc.com. "We can’t look back now, we’ve got to put it right on Sunday and we know what we need to do.

"We need to start better, show more grit and more determination."

Delph also discussed the impact of manager Rafa Benitez and hailed the Spaniard's methods since his arrival in the summer.

"The manager has been great, not just with me but with all of the lads," said Delph. "He’s been getting at us to be more aggressive and be more relentless on the pitch.

"He wants us to be on the front foot more. We know our fans are a great bunch and will always get behind us if we put in a shift. We definitely need to use that.

"The shoulder injury was a strange one for me but, of course, it's great to be back now.

"I had a good pre-season so it was frustrating for it to come when it did, but the training load that I've been given has been really good and I feel good for it."

After a disappointing first half at Molineux, Delph was introduced at the interval as boss Benitez shuffled his pack and switched to a 4-3-3 formation.

He acted as the anchor, while Allan and Andros Townsend formed a slightly more advanced midfield pair.

Now Delph is hoping he can form a strong bond with "superb" Brazil international Allan as the Toffees look to get back on track.

"We changed to three in midfield in the second half and it was good to play alongside Allan and Andros," he added. "Andros hadn't played there before but I thought he put in a really good shift.

"Allan is superb, a great player.

"I've played against him a few times in the Champions League in the past, so I was well aware of how good he is when he came here.

"Unfortunately, I've not had too many chances to play with him yet - but I really enjoy playing alongside him.

"I enjoy playing alongside anyone in the squad.

"I love playing football, so if I'm on the pitch for one minute or 90 minutes - I'm going to give it everything I've got."
