What The Papers Say - 18 October

In the aftermath of Sunday's defeat to West Ham, Everton manager Rafa Benitez spoke to the media, with quotes featuring in Monday's edition of the Liverpool Echo.

Benitez spoke of the impact that the absence of Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin is having on the team and hinted that the Brazilian could return sooner than the England international.

"I think Richarlison is closer, Dominic will take longer but Richarlison is getting closer," he told reporters during the press conference.

“The fact we were winning without Richarlison or Dominic [Calvert-Lewin] means we could do it the same but when you play against a good team and you have some chances you have to take them and if not you have to carry on.

"Missing these players you have less chance to change ad put fresh legs on.

"When you play against a good team it is more obvious it is a problem but still we were winning and we have to keep on winning."

Elsewhere, Football London claims Dominic Calvert-Lewin is the priority transfer target for Arsenal in next summer's transfer window.

Their source says Mikel Arteta is a fan of the 24-year-old and wants the North London club to sign him next summer.

However, the Englishman has shown no desire to leave Everton, so a deal could prove difficult.
