Everton Boss Provides Latest Team News

Rafa Benitez has revealed Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin "are closer" to regaining full fitness but the forwards will not be available for Sunday's clash against West Ham United at Goodison Park (2pm BST).

The Blues boss also confirmed captain Seamus Coleman and Lucas Digne are available again after both full-backs returned to training this week.

Meanwhile, Andre Gomes (calf) and Fabian Delph (shoulder) remain sidelined, with Benitez hopeful Yerry Mina will be available as he travels back from international duty with Colombia.

Richarlison (knee) and Calvert-Lewin (quadriceps) have missed Everton's past four games, with both players going through individual rehabilitation at USM Finch Farm as they close in on returns.

Coleman has also been out since the 3-1 victory over Burnley on 13 September due to a hamstring injury but is fit again, as is Digne despite the left-back having to return early from international duty with France last week because of a hamstring niggle.

Benitez said: "Lucas is fine. Richarlison and Calvert-Lewin are closer but will still not be available for this game.

"Yerry is coming back [to England]. He has played a lot of games, a lot of minutes but hopefully he will be here and available to start the game. Everything is positive with the feedback but we will have to wait and see how he feels."

On Gomes and Delph, Benitez added: "They are still working, trying to return as soon as possible but they are still not available."

Everton have scored 17 goals in nine matches under Benitez, failing to hit the back of the net only once, away to Aston Villa last month.

With regular scorers Richarlison and Calvert-Lewin missing again on Sunday, Benitez believes his squad's ability to share the attacking duties - eight of his players have been on the scoresheet in 2021/22 - has been a key strength so far this season.

"It's important for the players to realise that the team has to score goals, not just one player," he said.

"If you rely on just one player it makes it easier for your opponents. It's important for us to have different players scoring goals, different options and different ways to do it.

"I'm happy with that as a lot of players are attacking, creating and scoring goals."
