Mina Helps Colombia Shut Out Uruguay

Yerry Mina was once again dominant in defence as Colombia kept up their hopes of qualifying for the 2022 World Cup finals with a goalless draw against Uruguay in Montevideo.

The Everton defender played the full match and was integral to the visitors keeping a clean sheet, with Uruguay having the better chances to break the deadlock, including a disallowed Luis Suarez goal for offside.

Colombia have now gone five matches without defeat and the point could prove crucial in them reaching the World Cup finals in Qatar next year.

With the top four nations of the 10-team league automatically qualifying - and the fifth-placed side entering a play-off - Colombia currently occupy fifth spot, two points behind Ecuador and Uruguay.

Colombia have two more World Cup qualifiers during the current international break as they take on leaders Brazil - without the injured Richarlison - in Barranquilla on Sunday, before hosting Ecuador on Thursday 14 October (both 10pm BST kick-offs).
