Walton Hall Park Ready For Blues’ Return

Walton Hall Park has undergone a series of major improvements as it gears up to welcome back Everton Women on Saturday.

The 2,200-capacity, purpose-built stadium was home to the Blues for around a year before the COVID pandemic brought a sudden halt to proceedings.

Finally, following the fanfare of their WSL opener against Manchester City at Goodison Park, which attracted almost 6,000 supporters, the Women are set to return ‘home’ this weekend.

And ahead of their eagerly-anticipated return to Walton, against Birmingham City on Saturday, 25 September (11.30am kick-off BST), a whole host of works have been completed, including the construction of a new hybrid pitch.

The newly-laid surface, which includes upgrades to the irrigation system, will provide a state-of-the-art facility for Willie Kirk’s side.

New LED floodlights, providing increased levels of lighting are in the process of being installed and a new TV gantry and broadcast positions have also been upgraded, with a new television deal including more live games showcasing the women’s game at a new level.

The press facilities have also been improved, along with additional benched seating for the expected rise in journalists covering the Blues.

The players now have improved changing room facilities in line with the expectations for the Women’s Super League, and a brand-new PA and sound system will be welcomed by supporters, who will also benefit from the installation of covered, tiered standing for 500 on the east stand, once completed later this year.

New pitch perimeter fencing, the installation of a new broadband Wifi and a new CCTV system compete the improvements at Walton Hall Park, which is fully accessible with disabled seating and toilets.

General tickets for the Everton Women v Birmingham City game are available now. Tickets cost £8 adults, £4 concessions, with 50% off for Season Ticket Members (£4/£2), and 30% off for Official Members (£5.60/£2.80).

Walton Hall Park Stadium is situated in a 130-acre park in the Walton area of north Liverpool and is well served by public transport via bus and train.

Supporters are reminded that there is no official matchday parking at Walton Hall Park. Parking is available at the Stanley Park car park for £10 for the day, and cars can be left until after the men’s game finishes later in the day.
